_CITRUS TYPOGRAPHY BOOK
Reading about the history of typography can often times be a dry and foreign subject.
This is a visual adaptation of the “Manual for Designing With Type”, written by Jeremy Austen, renamed “Citrus Typography” to symbolize the freshness of its design. Austen presents type in this book as the most important single element in the communications industry. It starts by outlining the basic story of type and its manufacture, from the time when typesetting was a handcraft, to hot and cold metal typesetting and electronic photocomposition, focusing on notable landmarks in the history of type, all the way to the present.
Intention with this redesign is to make a book that turn the subject of typography, which many readers may find dry, more enjoyable and visually engaging. The book was designed in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
